We have stayed in 3 star hotels on previous visits which gave the same if not more than The Latium. The Latinum Hotel is a nice hotel but in our view its definately not a 4 star facility. Upon arrival we realised how far away we were from things compared to previous visits to Rome, to get to the Santa Maria Maggiore where the nearest hop on hop off bus stop was it took 30 minutes? Which was a long way compared to our last stay at The hotel impero which was 2 minutes. Myself & my husband have just returned from a four night stay here. We had a lovely few days in Rome but I certainly wouldn't stay here again. The manner in which it was demanded however did sour the trip. The reason became apparent as when we finally found a staff member he quite aggressively demanded a 50 Euro tourism tax before he'd let us leave. We tried to leave the room key and go only to find we had been locked in the hotel and couldn't get out. There was nobody on the front desk despite us waiting quite a while. On the last day we tried to leave early to catch out flight. This is a minor thing but because it is minor it's frustrating the hotel don't fix it. The towels are very poor quality as others have said. I used ear plugs but still the noise could not be drowned out. At all hours of the night honking horns and sirens can be heard as easily as if you were lying in the road. The noise level was worse than any hotel I have ever stayed at. Unfortunately the hotel is located next to a bery busy road. The hotel is located around 10 minutes from Mazoni underground station which is very handy for getting around. The room didn't contain an iron but one was provided on request. The room we were given was clean and comfortable enough and it had a mini-fridge which is helpful for bringing drinks back to the room. The staff were friendly and helpful on arrival and gave us advice on navigating the city. My partner and I stayed here for a few nights during a visit to Rome.
